Description
Going hunting for ducks and geese? That’s classic. Using affordable nontoxic shot to drop your birds? That’s steel. Want reliable, all-purpose waterfowl hunting loads that were made right here in America? Then you want Federal Classic Steel.
This 12 Gauge shell is loaded with approximately 90 pellets of BB steel shot. The largish pellets each retain enough energy to reliably break through a waterfowl’s dense feathers and penetrate to the depths where they can kill quickly, but their size still gives their pattern some density over longer distances. Federal’s steel shot pellets boast consistent dimensions and uniform weight distribution to ensure they pattern closely, and their full-length wad also helps to prevent flyaway pellets after it has protected a shotgun’s barrel from getting scratched up.
Federal’s water-resistant primer and tightly crimped hull both help to keep moisture away from their waterfowl load’s powder. This particular shell’s powder burns up clean for a 1,275 fps muzzle velocity, which isn’t so fast that you’ll have to dread heavy recoil.
